The Fall 2018 Trend that’s Already in Your Closet

There’s a huge fall trend that’s already in many women’s wardrobe. If it’s not in yours, you may want to add some. It’s animal print and it’s showing up everywhere.leopard wrap on A Well Styled Life

Most women either love or hate animal print with very little in between. It either conjures images of timeless and chic or trashy and tacky. Who can forget Anne Bancroft in “The Graduate” or Marilyn Monroe in “Gentleman Prefer Blondes”?Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life with leopard Kate Spade handbag

These prints are a perennial favorite for many women and a personal favorite of mine. I do have a few garmentsĀ in leopard print but prefer to wear it in accessories. I seldom wear more thanĀ one piece at a time but many women like to layer them on. It’s personal preference and you should let your comfortĀ level be your guide.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life wearing leopard wrap by Chico's

Leopard is the mostĀ popular animal print with cheetah, zebra, crocodile, and alligator bringing up the rear.

Classic animal prints may not be in your most flattering color but don’t let that stop you. They can all be found in colors to flatter your complexion.

  1. I love the gray tote…currently available?
Good to see the shot of consignment store, can fine lots of fun pieces there, of course!
Just got a moto jacket, for pure fun, and a nice black v neck Talbotā€™s top. Love a deal, visit
    those shops frequently.

  2. I love animal prints the most when they are on the animal.

  3. I love a zebra belt and two pair of leopard print shoes. I also have a leopard print blouse that I got at Macy’s a couple of years ago – it’s so comfy and I always get compliments. I wear animal prints very sparingly, but they are fun – I’ll be pulling them out for fall- especially after your post!

  4. I have been considering a muted leopard print scarf I saw. I need another scarf like I need a hole in the head. I saw a woman wearing a polyester leopard print blouse today and it just looked cheap. So, perhaps one has to watch the quality of animal print items?

  5. I love animal prints. I only have one piece and it is a long open cardigan from Chicos brought up to me in Canada. I love it. I feel special in it too and it is in the leopard print. Looks great over black. Love the tote.

  6. I also prefer animal prints in accessories. However, when I recently retired I did keep an animal print pencil skirt, a pair of pants, and a silk blouse. I would love to see in a future blog how you style animal print separates. I always seem to wear a denim or chambray blouse with my leopard print skirt and pants.

I absolutely love animal print! I have been wearing it for many years. I was a Natural deep redhead and those colors work for me. Iā€™m really glad that itā€™s ā€œinā€ this year. I will be on animal print overload šŸ™‚

  8. Animal print has never been my thing. I just cannot wear the color brown near my face. And I am not bold enough or skinny enough to wear any pants in animal print! I do have a very nice Animal print and leather handbag that I purchased at a high end craft show. Oh, I also have an animal print wallet I use.

    1. You can start with tiny bits of it to see where your comfort level is.

  9. Yesterday I was carrying a wristlet in a black and white leopard print. For those of us who like animal prints but don’t want to overload, this is a good solution. It’s kind of fun when the print is inspired by, but not exactly out of nature.

    1. I agree. My pink leopard scarf certainly takes liberty with the color and works well with all my things.

  10. My husband cannot stand animal prints but I ā€˜mayā€™ try to sneak in a belt this year to add as an accessories. I do have a black and white sweater that looks like animal print but doesnā€™t shout it that we both like so maybe he wonā€™t object to a belt. Ha!

    1. So long as he doesnā€™t have to wear it. If you like it you should wear it.

  11. I love animal prints and a have a lot of it including accessories, a dress, long cardigan and shoes. I’ve just bought a blouse and jewelery from Chicos which im sure will get a lot of wear. I always get compliments when I wear the larger pieces. I too would like to see more animal prints in the cooler shades; it seems to be predominately leopard. For me, it is best to only wear one piece at a time.

    1. Chicos carries a lot of it. Thereā€™s lots of cool toned leopard around but obviously not as much as the orange version. Iā€™ll keep my eyes out and update
