The Suede Trend for Women Over 50

Fall officially started on Thursday and it finally feels a bit cooler here in the SF Bay Area. We’re not getting the crisp cool weather I adore but it has cooled down enough to think about fall clothes!

Welcome to this week’s Hit Your Style Sweet Spot, my weekly collaboration with Pamela LutrellĀ from Over 50 Feeling 40!

hit your style sweet spot

You’ve hit your Style Sweet Spot when your appearance is sending the message you intend, and you feel confident that you look your best. Last week we shared fashion designed and made in the USA.Ā This week we are showing how we wear a trend for Fall 2016.

Fashion week showed lots of suede for fall. I like to add a little trend into my wardrobe to look current but do it sparingly, so I don’t appear a fashionĀ victim.

Suede is one of those universally flattering fabrics that dresses up or down and always looksĀ polished. High-quality suede is soft and flexible but is usually very expensive. For those who are budget conscious or won’t wear animal forĀ moral reasons, vegan suede is the perfect solution!

Purple Poppy sent me these Lysse Vegan Suede leggings to try. They’re designed with a high waistband, soft stretch lining and flat locked seams that lat flat and stay comfortable all day.

I first styled them with a long, asymmetricalĀ vest and peep toe suede ankle booties. Minimal jewelry felt right to me. The vest is long enough to cover my tummy and behind.

Next, I dressed them up with a classic white shirt and pearls. Pearls add polish to every outfit!

I added a touch of leopard with this bag. A little leopard goes a long way!

These leggings are form fitting but move with you and retain theirĀ shape. No bagging at the knees or backside! I sized up to a medium because they run a bit small.

Then I styled them for cooler weather and tried them tucked into knee-high riding boots with a simple silk scarf. I decided the scarf was overkill.

The calves of these boots are snug, but the leggings fit inside them easily.

This is how I hit my Style Sweet Spot and the wear the Fall 2016 suede trend.
