Look of the Week: Love at First Sight

Our weather turned gray and cold yesterday which was a nice change. I hear we’re in for a dry winter, which is not helpful for our drought conditions. We decided to go to the theater and see the new movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. It wasn’t fabulous, but the special effects were very cool.

I wore Love at First Sight blouse from Chico'sI thought the fluttery sleeves might be awkward and get in the way, but they don’t. They fall awayĀ from my hands and feel feminine without being too girly for my style. Of course, I probably won’t cook wearing them.Love at First Sight blouse from Chico's

The black French cursive translates to “love at first sight.” I wore simple hoops and a feather Pom Pom pin. I love brooches this fall, but anything heavier would have dragged down the blouse fabric.

I wore it with straight leg jeans, my cashmere wrap, and peep toe booties. I found this shawl at the Nordstrom anniversary sale last summer. It’sĀ whisper-thin but adds the perfect amount of warmth.

I feel a bit like Count Dracula wearing it long, but it easily folds smaller to be a shawl.

The peep-toe booties turned out to be a poor choice because it was raining when we left the theater:) I’m happy to hear more rain is in the forecast and I’ll be wearing closed toe footwear for it.

    1. I wish you could join us too!!

  2. Such a nice, unique blouse! I love the print and the pretty sleeves.

I had very, very low expectations for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but we all ended up loving it (probably because our expectations were so low!). The special effects are certainly cool, and I loved that the movie has a little bit of everything – romance, suspense, magic… Maybe I’m just desperate for anything that brings me a bit closer to Harry Potter!? šŸ˜‰

    1. You’re right, it did have all those things. We were told it was amazing, so maybe our expectations were too high:)

  3. What a cute blouse – and I love the little feather pompom pin. Just the right touch. I felt the same way about Fantastic Beasts – enjoyed the special effects but it went on 30 minutes or so longer than what held my interest.

    1. The huge tub of popcorn kept me in my seat:)

  4. I love the outfit. Your hair looks beautiful may I ask what products you use. I’m so frustrated with my hair and just not sure what to do with it at this point. I keep hoping if I find the right shampoo, conditioner and styling products I can get the look I’m going for.

    1. Hi Kathleen. First, thanks. I’m
Using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner plus their hair regrowth treatment. For hair styling products I love all Kevin Murphy. I use his mousse, Doo Over Spray and a touch of hairspray. My hair is amazingly better now than before it began falling out. I feel so fortunate.

  5. Love it! Perfect day to evening outfit truly lovely.

    1. I hadn’t thought of it, but now that you mention it, it is! Thanks, Deborah.

  6. Love seeing the poet’s blouse -looks great! I have it in my shopping bag…I think I’m going to go for it!

    1. I’m so surprised how much I love it! It’s stepping out of my comfort zone and I’m glad I did!
