Would You Wear It? Bold Pants

Would You Wear It? Bold Pants

Happy Saturday! Have you got fun plans for the weekend? I have a hair appointment which may produce some interesting results…I’ll share if it does. Plus I’ve got a new stack of books which I am determined to dive into. I haven’t given myself enough downtime to read in recent months but this past holiday has reminded me just how much I love it.

Welcome to Would You Wear It. I share my thoughts on clothes with you all week so this is your chance to tell me what you think. Each Saturday Pam from Over 50 Feeling 40 and I share a mannequin we have spotted and ask if you would wear what she’s wearing.

I’m giving you 2 angles on this one so tell me, ladies, would you wear it and why or why not. I’d love to know your thoughts.

Now let’s pop over to see Pam’s mannequin here.

The Nordstrom sale is almost over so I did a final look-see around and found some interesting things. I love at home devices and they have some well-rated ones marked down.

Here’s some of what I spotted.

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

I love a bold pant and often wear them….but, I do not like this outfit at all. It just doesn’t seem to work together. I could see those pants with a beautiful white blouse, but I think that is it. I wear saffron in tops, but not pants….very hard to pair. Thanks Jennifer!

Thanks Pam. The mannequin stopped me in my tracks 🙂

Absolutely not! ugly color. Also I would not wear the vest thing.

Funny, I like all three pieces, but not together. The colors don’t seem to work. I would buy the vest in a minute, a great wardrobe extender. Like the long row of buttons on my shirt body. But I would where a bright pant, not saffron. Linden isn’t my color either.

There isn’t anything I like about that outfit…..the pant color is awful (style is ok) and I certainly wouldn’t pair those pants with that shirt and duster. Just awful……all the way around!

I would NOT wear this outfit at all. It doesn’t seem to work together. I have a pair of green pants I wear in the spring, but other than that, bold colored pants are not my thing. Nope. Not wearing this outfit….

I would wear a bold pant, but not these. I don’t like the color. The whole outfit looks awkward to me, not well thought out.

I have read that this mustard color is big in Europe now.I don’t like the outfit because the pieces seem so unrelated to each other

No, I would not wear this outfit. I agree with the other comments that these items just do not go together. I would never wear the pants color in any item. I like the duster, but that is all.

  9. August 4, 2018 / 5:16 am

I would wear the pants with the shell on the left and the blazer on the right. That would be cute!

I totally agree. The pants/shell would give you a column of color and the blazer, I like the dusty black color of it, would be smart looking with it. That particularly color isn’t the greatest next to my face, I might not go for a long-sleeved top in it, but if I were going to wear the long vest I would be thinking about a top that unified the pants.

Individually, those pieces might be fine, but as an outfit it is pretty awful and hard to imagine it was styled by a professional. I don’t mind bold coloured trousers, but not a fan of the mustard and after looking at the outfit again, the sleeveless duster is a nothing piece and really serves no purpose.

I would not wear this outfit! It looks strange and depressing. I actually have a pair of pants this color and love them. I have worn them with a white top and denim vest or jacket and a statement necklace that has the mustard color in it. I feel the 3 pieces could work separately but not together.

Not a chance! I love bright colours but not this combination. The vest could look so good with coloured denim but this combination of styles doesn’t work for me.

  13. Kim
    August 4, 2018 / 5:29 am

Absolutely NOT! None of the items go together, mustard is not my color, and the duster is just ugly. Did a colorblind child style this outfit???

  14. Pat Englund
    August 4, 2018 / 5:39 am

No I wouldn’t. The pieces are hideous together. Maybe the pants if you style them with a solid black of some sort and some sassy shoes or sandals. But I wouldn’t be drawn to this look or color combo at all.

  15. Kay
    August 4, 2018 / 5:59 am

No, no and no!! Mustard hue is awful and will not be worn by me. I think these color palettes are horrible together and would suck the color out of me! The denim vest is too long. Just looking at the outfits make me feel queasy!!!
Where is Ultra Violet for fall and winter??? I haven’t seen much of this fab color yet, but hoping it will come :))

I join the “nos” for the same reason: pant colour and combination of all the pieces. I am stepping out of my comfort zone thanks to getting ideas from the blogs I follow but this is a leap I can’t make!

Oh no. The whole outfit is drab. I do not like the colour of the pants. You would be limited as to what you would wear with them.

  18. Sheryl
    August 4, 2018 / 6:21 am

Seriously? Those pants look like a double knit horror revived from the 1970s! I would, however, wear the outfit shown in the left side of that photo. Just a touch of that color (which looks more “pumpkin” to me) would be fine for Fall.

  19. August 4, 2018 / 6:35 am

I’m seeing mustard frequently and suppose it’s on trend, but am not a fan. This is an outfit only a really, really attractive person with a beautiful face could pull off, because then you might not notice it, lol. But if you combined the patterned sleeveless tank with the mustard pants and added the short jacket, it would be more tolerable.

I seem to agree with the majority….No I would not wear it. I don’t like the color of the pants, I feel the vest takes away from the shirt…the shirt I might wear with a nice pair of jeans, but not in this combination! Love the look on the left! Good luck with your hair appointment!!

No, the color doesn’t suit me. I was in Paris for three weeks this spring, and this color yellow was shown a lot, often mixed with blue. The spice tones were shown a lot, mustard, cinnamon, olive, clay ( a rosy beige) , red/ brown, even some African prints. And longer length dresses also. I saw very little ultra violet color, but there was a strong 1980’s disco look as well, using shiny fabrics, the opposite of the “ earthy spice tones”, interesting.

I do actually have some slacks that color — they pair well with navy or ivory. But I do not like these pieces together

  23. August 4, 2018 / 7:15 am

I think I’ll echo a lot of the comments here and say no, I wouldn’t wear the combo in the front. I do kind of like the outfit though with the black pants. A bit less flashy. Coloured pants always look odd to me.

I enjoy the “Would You Wear it?”. I would modify this outfit and give it a go. Mustard pants not this style, jeggings with an indigo long cardigan and a neutral t shirt. Call me crazy but that’s me.

That would be a “No!” for me. I don’t like bright or flashy pants. Long tunics are not my style either. I’m tall and they tend to make me look even taller & skinnier. I like the print of the blouse but prefer my shirts with a collar that I can pop up (long neck).
A day reading a good book is never wasted! 😉

This outfit leaves me speechless, in a bad way.

The stylist who put this outfit together must be brand new to the job. None of it appears to relate. The style and color of the pants I would never wear. It would accentuate the not so good on me. The vest is too long for me, I can’t wear too much draping material on my top half, makes my apple shaped body appear bigger on top. The top, it’s hard to say. Can’t see enough of it to give a full opinion.

  28. Ann
    August 4, 2018 / 8:32 am

I don’t like the color combination … seems awkward and doesn’t work for me. The vest would be too long on me so that’s a no. And the pants have a bulky waistband/fly area which I don’t like. All in all, not a very attractive outfit.

  29. Susan
    August 4, 2018 / 9:09 am

A big “yes” to bold pants in general, but a big “no” to these. Mustard is my least favorite color, and the tab at the waist would bulge out under an untucked top. U like others, I think the color combination is intriguing. I might not do it myself, but I’d think “she’s interesting and creative” if this person walked by me on the street.

I’m joining the chorus of no-s. I’m not a fan of mustard color. However, I like the pieces and the shapes, but not in one outfit. It just doesn’t work for me.

  31. Kay
    August 4, 2018 / 10:47 am

I would swap out the print blouse for something solid because it takes things too far over the “busy” line, but the general idea of bold pants is something I would wear.

  32. Becky HARTER
    August 4, 2018 / 11:36 am

I like the style of the pants, but not the color. I like the vest, but it is little long for me, so I would need to have it shortened. I like the blouse, but as others have said, I would not put these things together. The combinations just seems off to me.

  33. Katrina
    August 4, 2018 / 11:49 am

NOOOOOO!!!! Terrible combination. This just screams “I’m color blind, please help me!!” Perhaps as individual pieces with more conservative, tasteful accessories, but not like this. Hideous.

Hmmm … I like the color of the pants (and I think I am one of the few people who can wear this color), but the waistband looks like it isn’t made well and sticks out — and I don’t need any extra padding in that area. That being said, I’d pair those pants with the top on the left, or perhaps a lovely-detailed top in ivory.

The blouse and vest are okay items by themselves, but in my opinion do nothing for those pants. It’s not a very good mix of colors or styles. Some accessories would have been helpful, too. There aren’t any on any of those outfits.

I would wear the pants, but not the outfit. The color combination is awful, I would pair the pants with either a white or ivory silk blouse and a black long vest. I have a blazer in this color and love it.

Gulden’s mustard and Sans-e-belt polyester men’s pants. No way, Jay!
I like the blue sleeveless long vest. Versatile color and style. I could wear it two ways: as is and buttoned up , maybe belted, as a dress. It would look good with jeans or leggings.

That mustard color was all over Paris when I was there. The best outfit I saw was the mustard pants in a wide leg crop with tights and booties, a stripe top (where else?) and burgundy scarf for accent. It was gorgeous, so much that I’m thinking about ordering a pair in olive green that Target has right now.
That said, I like all the pieces, but not that duster or the button up blouse. I think with a knit T with wider stripes and touches of burgundy, it could be fab!

I think I might have worn it….around 1977. The pant color is atrocious. I actually like the duster but would wear it with a white blouse and perhaps jeans, certainly either black or khaki pants….mustard yellow just doesn’t make it for me.

I would wear look 2 but I don’t care for the blouse tucked partway in….I know it’s the style but every time I see it I think someone rushed out of the bathroom stall!

I actually like the pants color and the vest color together. I think the proportions are just off. Now the shirt is a nightmare! Skinny leg pant and shorter vest with cute booties would be in my wheelhouse.

The outfit no and the pants YES. Would look killer with nay or gray. Accent with red or purple!

I have to say that there is nothing appealing about this outfit. The pant color is not attractive & the overall look is just uncoordinated & thrown together.
I might wear the outfit on the mannequin to the left, with the print top & dark pants.

  42. August 7, 2018 / 5:54 am

Yes, I would wear those mustard pants! I would wear them with black, or charcoal. I am dreaming of autumn, and could see them with a long sweater or tunic.

  43. August 14, 2018 / 9:02 pm

Catching up after two weeks camping without wifi. I’m not at all sure that I’d wear any of these pieces, but together, definitely not! There is absolutely nothing attractive about it.
