Look of the Week: Holiday Luncheon

Look of the Week: Holiday Luncheon

If you’re like me, not all holiday get-togethers are planned in advance. What to wear when the invite is spur of the moment and the venue is a restaurant?  A touch of gleam, some soft velvet, and faux pearls put festive details above the waist… which is what people see most at a sit-down luncheon.

When Purple Poppy sent me this Printed Burnout Velvet Stretch Top to style, I intended to wear it with jeans and dress it down. Then I got a last minute invitation and decided to do just the opposite.

I wore my Eileen Fisher crepe pants that stretch to accommodate any size meal. I pulled out my ruffled shoes which aren’t comfy to walk in for very long but great for sitting events.

This fun necklace is a good balance for my broad shoulders and draws the eye down the way a deeper neckline would. It makes a big statement and is very affordable.

This burnout pattern seemed see-through but once I put it on, I found it wasn’t. The outline of a black bra would have been visible under it so I chose nude.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life wearing Sno Skins Velvet Top

These pants are quite slim so I prefer to wear them with tops cover my backside, which this top does.

Tunic tops can look overwhelming on petite women. Ones that are shorter in front, at the sides, or have an asymmetrical hemline help to elongate the legs.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life wearing Sno Skins Velvet Burnout Top

I passed a long line of excited children waiting to sit on Santa’s lap. Their parents looked both expectant and harassed at the same time…oh the memories!

If I see Santa today, I’m asking for that pearl necklace! It’s gorgeous!! Going to my department Christmas luncheon as a retiree guest this week, so I’m planning something fabulous. You looked pretty fabulous yourself in that outfit!

Jennifer, I just discovered you a few weeks ago and love your style. So inspirational ! I love shoes and you wear some of the cutest ! Having wore my share of the most glamorous as well as uncomfortable, my goal now is searching for comfort as well as style. Would love to see you do a post, with links ( !) on shoes that you have taken for a test run that look good and are great for walking ! I also enjoy your glimpses of your camper travels. We are retired RV’ers and were lucky enough to travel the USA and more for many years. Treasured memories !

Welcome Carolyn! I’ve done my share of damage to my feet so have to wear comfortable shoes now. That’s a great idea for a post. I do have some go to brands that I know to be comfy. Some are pricey but my feet are worth it! RV-ing is so fun. We live it too.
