Look of the Week: Loreto Art Walk

My Dressing Room Diaries is a fun series where I visitĀ different stores, try on many things and share with you why or why not they work for me. I do have a budget, so seldom buy the clothes. My visit to Ann Taylor 2 weeks ago was different. When I fell for this blouse and jeans… I bought them, which is out of character for me because I seldom wear pattern and don’t “do” distressed.

Saturday night we went into town for the Loreto Art Walk and Music Festival. Just off the town square, a little street was lined with stalls of local jewelry, pottery, weavings, and paintings.

After a day under my sunhat, my hair was trashed so I used the dreaded banana clip to keep my hair neat.

I chose comfy, walking sandals and added big earrings that are featherlight and fun. The soft pink of the earrings is picked up in the tropical pattern on my blouse. I love these trumpet sleeves. They feel feminine and are a nice contrast to the slightly frayed bottom edge of the jeans.

I didn’t have room to pack my pink straw tote bag so brought this foldable red one, which doesn’t match…oh well!

This lady spoke much better English than I did Spanish.

The stalls were filled with the most interesting art.

Notice the man behind me, on the right. He’s walking around giving out samples of Margaritas:)

I half-tucked the blouse into my jeans to shorten it, narrow the bottom and give it a bit more shape. Hanging loose, it would require a lighter weight pant. These jeans are meant to be cropped but are full length on me. The petite jeans had a lower rise which I didn’t like the feel of.

Before dinner at a local restaurant, I took a peek into some local shops at their silver earrings and bracelets. Mexico is famous for its sterling silver and there is a lot admire.

  1. This is a great look for you, Jennifer!

I always enjoy your posts, but I especially love ones like this that give us a glimpse of somewhere new and interesting. Bonus!

  2. You look fabulous in your new outfit. The color is stunning on you and I love the print. I am not a “print” gal myself, but sometimes it is nice to break out of our style routines. I also love the glasses that you wore and your hair looked adorable up in the clip. Thanks for all of the inspiration!

  4. Hi Jennifer….this outfit looks fabulous on you. Love it! I would not change a thing! Banana clips have a purpose in life, which look just fine in the tropics or really hot weather. šŸ˜‰ it’s nice to see a blogger go with the flow….enjoy your vacay.

    Robin.

  7. It’s so nice seeing you in pattern. I looked up this top to order it but it’s only available in the light blue which would do nothing for me. More colours please Ann Taylor.

    1. Thanks, Annemarie. It’s new to me and I am liking it!

You look beautiful, happy, and relaxed. : )

  9. I love that top and the tuck gives it the relaxed, laid back vacation feel. It’s a great one to travel with, as you could easily dress that up by pairing it with a skirt. Seeing you in those jeans has convinced me yo buy a pair. I have intensely disliked the ripped Jean style on anyone but this .i could do. See! You’re getting me out of my style rut.
I am a little jealous that you are enjoying the sun & warmth while we have frost this morning. But, spring is here! ????

    1. Happy spring, Joanna!! It will get to you soon.xoxo

    Dear Jennifer
Your outfit is perfect and I love your glasses. Seems you bought the frame right together with the fantastic blouse!
Enjoy your sunny days! Yours Angela

    1. I’m really happy with my new glasses. It’s so dry here contacts are not easy to wear. The blouse is so different for me but I love it.
