Little Black Dress For Casual and Holiday Events
My last walk through Costco showed Halloween and Christmas decor! How’d that happen so fast? Before we know it, we’ll be doing spring cleaning. Even though I just stored away my linen clothes, experience tells me it’s not too soon to start thinking about what you’ll want to wear for upcoming holiday events.

This versatile V-Neck dress has a crossover twist front that is tacked closed so there’s no gaping when you move about or bend over. I love that! It’s both ladylike and modest. It’s made from 100% Crepe de chine, lightweight and wrinkle resistant.
It also has something many other dresses don’t have, sleeves! I don’t know about you but I love not needing to wear a jacket, wrap or cardigan to cover my upper arms.
Here it is dressed up with my Grandmothers necklace and earrings, a simple wrap, black clutch, and low heels. This would take me to the Ballet, a concert or fancy holiday party.
Since my life is pretty casual I decided to also show you how I will style it for travel, daytime or a quick dinner out.
I switched the crystal jewelry for simple silver hoops and added a casual link bracelet. I changed the clutch for my daily tote bag, heels for ballet flats and wrap for this classic cardigan.
I love this Essential V-Neck cardigan. It’s a very soft blend of 85% Mulberry Silk and 15% cashmere with mother of pearl buttons down the front. Since I prefer my necklines to match, this V-neck shape coordinates with most of my clothes. It’s classic shape dresses up or down and you will see me wearing it many other ways this fall and winter!

I ordered the dress in a small and it is HUGE on me. I usually wear between a small and extra small at all stores, but this runs large. Considering how much too big it is I don’t even think an extra small would fit. I hope I can return and get my money back.
I do hope they will allow for returns. I always encourage ladies to verify return policies before ordering online.

I loved the black dress and ordered it immediately after reading your post this morning. If it fits and looks good it’ll be great for travel. It looks like it packs well.
I am 4’9′ and have gained up to 156 due to hypothyroidism that the doctor is trying to adjust. Do you think the dress would work in a large for me or would it look like a short person is in a regular size? I wear Eileen Fisher petite large or medium regular, depending on the cut. I just love the look of the dress.
I think it would be fine but you would need to hem the bottom up several inches. The waistline would blouse over a bit on you which should look just fine. Check their return policy just in case it’s not right on you Kris.
Jennifer, I had never considered matching my necklines, nor have I heard anyone else mention it. Something to consider when putting outfits together. May require new clothes!
I can’t always do it but it’s more pleasing to the eye when they do. The same goes for jacket necklines and tops under them.
Is the bodice stitched at the neck or does the wrap gape open? The sleeves are a good touch, not too long yet long enough to do the job.
The bodice is tacked closed right where the V ends, so it does not gap or expose anything.

Until I saw your lovely LBD with short sleeves, I didn’t need or want another black dress. Now it’s a must have! And it’s very reasonable too…

The wrap is from a boutique several years ago and is very fine cashmere and silk. The shoes are super comfy and available here

Love this dress and affordable price! A couple questions- Is the bottom of the dress a true wrap? Does it slit open? Also, the sleeves look drapery and a bit full (love it!). Do they bunch up under a cardigan or blazer?
The sleeves are loose but not floppy so they did not bunch up under the cardigan. It is a faux wrap because it’s sewn at the waistband. The front has two pieces of silk that cover the entire front, if that makes sense.
