The calendar says it’s Autumn, whether temperatures cooperate or not. I grew up on the East coast where it’s already cooling off, but here in California…we have 2 months of hot weather before us.
Welcome to Hit Your Style Sweet Spot, my collaboration with Pam from Over50Feeling40. You’ve hit your Style Sweet Spot when your appearance is sending the message you intend, and you feel confident that you look your best. This week we’re talking about Autumn.
Now that I live in California, fall fashion isn’t “needed” until sometime in late October. By this time of year, I’m already sick of my summer clothes and anxious to wear fall fashion, so what to do?
I begin going through last season’s clothes to decide if this is the look I want to have this season. My taste and style direction has often changed over the year so not everything is going to feel right for me now.
I try each item on to check for needed repairs and to also guarantee that it still fits me. Things I love but aren’t the look I want to project this year, get stored again.
I decided I wanted a classic “lady” jacket this fall. I’m a big fan of Coco Chanel and love her tweed jacket look. I found one during Dressing Room Diaries at Talbots, a few weeks ago. I was happy to discover they carry sizes for every woman from petites to misses to woman plus and woman petite plus!
The attention to detail is fabulous in this Amherst Tweed jacket and the workmanship is beautiful. From its notched collar to the fringed and braided trim, this jacket had everything I was looking for…plus its navy, not black!

I hit my Style Sweet Spot with white pants, tank top, sandals, simple silver jewelry and a straw bag on this in-between day while waiting for fall temps to arrive.
Talbots Fall 2017 collection is called Perfectly Parisian with looks to inspire that French woman style in all of us.
Now let’s go see how Pam hits her Style Sweet Spot for Autumn!
Thanks for reading and have a great day!
