Hit Your Style Sweet Spot for Autumn

The calendar says it’s Autumn, whether temperatures cooperate or not. I grew up on the East coast where it’s already cooling off, but here in California…we have 2 months of hot weather before us.

Welcome to Hit Your Style Sweet Spot, my collaboration with Pam from Over50Feeling40. You’ve hit your Style Sweet Spot when your appearance is sending the message you intend, and you feel confident that you look your best. This week we’re talking about Autumn.

Now that I live in California, fall fashion isn’t “needed” until sometime in late October. By this time of year, I’m already sick of my summer clothes and anxious to wear fall fashion, so what to do?

I begin going through last season’s clothes to decide if this is the look I want to have this season. My taste and style direction has often changed over the year so not everything is going to feel right for me now.

I try each item on to check for needed repairs and to also guarantee that it still fits me. Things I love but aren’t the look I want to project this year, get stored again.

I decided I wanted a classic “lady” jacket this fall. I’m a big fan of Coco Chanel and love her tweed jacket look. I found one during Dressing Room Diaries  at Talbots, a few weeks ago. I was happy to discover they carry sizes for every woman from petites to misses to woman plus and woman petite plus!

The attention to detail is fabulous in this Amherst Tweed jacket and the workmanship is beautiful. From its notched collar to the fringed and braided trim, this jacket had everything I was looking for…plus its navy, not black!

I hit my Style Sweet Spot with white pants, tank top, sandals, simple silver jewelry and a straw bag on this in-between day while waiting for fall temps to arrive.

Talbots Fall 2017 collection is called Perfectly Parisian with looks to inspire that French woman style in all of us.

Now let’s go see how Pam hits her Style Sweet Spot for Autumn!

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

What a great jacket, Jennifer. It is chic and so you! Even though the weather is warm for many of us, it is good to get these great selections now, before they disappear. I love tweed and this is a wonderful design. Thanks for joining me today on Sweet Spot!

Some of the best things will be gone soon so it’s important to get them early! I love your look today.

Jennifer, I love this pairing of the tailored jacket with the white jeans and tank top. Such a perfect fall transition outfit! That jacket is gorgeous, but then again, most items from Talbots are! Your sandals are super cute, too. Really great look, for sure!

I’m a little chubby and busty and short and I really struggle with jackets. I love yours but think it’s probably too short for me.

Being busty dies present a challenge for jackets Maggie. This is quite cropped and I’m not even wearing the petite version.

Lovely jacket…but Talbots does not fit every woman. I realize you are petite and can get your sizing, but Talbots still doesn’t carry tall sizing. I need the extra length for dresses and skirts at 5’9″, because above the knee at this age/stage is a no-go for me and lots of other women. And, they don’t give enough of a hem! I purchase a lot at Talbots because I like the classic styling, but never skirts or dresses, unless they are maxi or midi length. I’d wear this chanel-like jacket with a more classic, refined slim pant and shoes or with jeans, t-shirt and ballet flats.

Thank you for pointing that out Susanna!! I’m petite and struggle with those issues but totally forgot about you tall ladies. You really are challenged because I can always cut fabric off but you can’t add it. I’m styling it that way as soon as it cools off! Plus ropes of pearls to channel Coco Chanel:)

What a fun idea – thanks! I LOVE the black fringed Chanel style jacket I got at Banana Republic last year, but hadn’t thought of wearing it with white – will try it!

Lucky you Anne! Your black jacket would look terrific with a lot of colors.

This is a great look, especially fun, Jennifer…love the navy on you!

I love navy too Marlene! I wish there was more of it around.

Fabulous jacket, Jennifer! I’m also so tired of the heat.

      It’s still blistering here. Yuck!

You look great….so simple and chic!! I love the way your tank fits, not too tight, not too short, not too deep in the neckline. Would you please share the brand name with us and how you sized the garment?
    Thank you so much.

Thanks Pat. This is J.Jill tank in a regular (not petite) size small.
