Happiness in Real Time

How can we be happier? Do more of the things that make us happy. Sound too simple to be true? Not for me. Too often the busyness of life prevents me from doing what makes me happy. How dumb is that? Very.

This weekend I did what makes me happy. Very happy. I spent the weekend with my grandson.

Being a Ā grandparent is so much easier than being a parent. I think it’s the reward for surviving parenthood!

It was a rainy weekend so we couldn’t do much outside, but we did grab an hour at the local park.Ā “Play” is under-rated for adults. When is the last time you did something just for fun? Not to accomplishĀ something, but just to have fun?

I broke in my first Chico’s purchase this weekend. These Girlfriend So Slimming Jeans are great!

It had been too long for me. There weren’t swings large enough for me, but there was a seesaw. Not the old-fashioned plank ones I remember from my childhood. But a newfangled one with a spring for the adult side šŸ™‚

He had a slight face plant on the asphalt heading back to the car so we went for ice cream therapy. It helped a lot.

I’m so crazy about this little man. Pardon me for gushing.

    xx

    1. He’s chattering like a magpie and parroting everything he hears. It’s so magical to spend time with him!

  2. An ice cream after a face plant? That’s what a fun Grandma is so good at creating. What a great time you two have together – it radiates from both of you. I was just “grilled” as a grandma at Lisa Carpenter’s Grandma’s Briefs site. I know we love the sharing.

    1. Oh I’m heading over to read your “grilling” I love her site!!

    1. xo He makes my heart gush over with love.

  3. Lovely pictures! I love the coat you are wearing!

    1. Thanks Nancy, these are probably the only pictures you’ll see my husband took. He loves to cut my head off or have the picture sideways šŸ™‚

  4. When it comes to that little guy, you could never gush too much. This is what I would call the most perfect day. I’ve found it’s so much easier as a grandma to drop everything when it comes to Molly time.

    1. Your Molly is beyond darling! We are indeed blessed Trina.

  5. I concur 100%! I spent some time with little ones digging for worms in the garden this past weekend and enjoyed myself thoroughly! They keep us young. Your grandson is a darling!

    1. Thanks Lorrie! I imagine I have worm digging in my future when he gets a little older šŸ™‚

  6. Hi Jennifer, O my gosh! Your Grandson is gorgeous! I love the pic of you 2 on the seesaw. Your hair looks lovely, too. Great tip, do what makes you happy. WE forget sometimes.

    1. Thanks Lisa! I’m pretty smitten. I find it too easy to let life get in the way of doing what makes me happy. I have to remind myself!

  7. I’m so jealous. One of the things you miss the about not being able to have children, besides the obvious, is not having grandchildren in your later years.

Enjoy every wonderful moment with him. I guarantee you he won’t forget any of them.

Happy spring, dear friend. Let’s talk soon.

    Cheers, M-T

    1. He forgets nothing! While we were walking my little day on Saturday he asked where the lemons were that we’d pickerd last summer. Lets talk next week! xox

  8. He is truly a little cutie. Nothing like grandchildren for sure.
