Dressing Room Diaries: Sunday Edition
My shopping marathon Friday involved several stores but my favorite collection was at Ann Taylor so today’s dressing room diaries is from there. I worked part-time at a local Ann Taylor 40 years ago just for the clothing discount:) I never took a penny home 😉 For reference, I am 5’4″ and weigh 140 pounds.
Their modern classics this season are gorgeous! Their entire collection is 40% off with the code Friends40 through 9/18.
I started with these All Day Skinny Jeans with pearl ankle detail that are amazingly comfortable. The 2-way stretch fabric is 66% Cotton, 15% Modal, 10% Lyocell, 7% Elasterell, and 2% Lycra which stretches more than most yet retains its shape. They do come in petite but I like the length of this regular version for me.
This Mixed Media Tee has a smooth woven front and soft knit back so looks dressier than a standard tee. It comes in regular and petite in 3 colors. I topped these off with this Marled Boyfriend Cardigan which coordinates in the prettiest shade of blue. The cardigan is available in petite which would be a better proportion for me.
This Pearl and Tweed Necklace caught my eye right away. It’s a fun nod to Chanel style and that makes a great statement.
I styled it with this Tweed Ruffle Collar Coat which has flecks of burgundy. It’s too long on me in the regular version and would be better in the petite. Overall, it’s too boxy for my inverted silhouette and the high crew neckline doesn’t help. I paired it with the Modern Skinny Jean (love these) in Vino color and this Mixed Media Shell. The shell is a silky cotton jersey with a semi-sheer woven bottom portion which creates visual interest just below the hipline and visually shortens it. My photo makes my legs look shorter than they appeared in person.
This Cheetah Blouse ran large. I am wearing the medium but could have worn the small. The website says they are almost sold out but I would phone your local store to check. It’s a great length to wear out or tuck in. These Jeggings are incredibly comfortable. The leg looks wrinkly on me because they are too long…I need the petite version. They feel like yoga pants! Their super skinny leg is smooth enough to fit inside knee boots yet look like jeans. The Cheetah Skirt hanging on the door was adorable! Sorry I have no photo.
I love this Bell Sleeve Sweater but I need the petite version. This regular one would dip the sleeves into everything I did:) It’s a really soft 44% Wool, 29% Nylon, 27% Viscose blend that’s machine washable. These are the Modern High Rise Skinny Jeans in black which fit like a dream. The higher the rise, the better for me because there’s less chance of muffin top action.
This Cowl Neck Sweat Shirt is dreamy soft and comes in two colors. It is sooo comfy. Perfect for lounging around on the weekend, running errands or wearing over your yoga pants for running to and from the gym. I am wearing the regular version but would be more flattered in the petite which would still cover my backside but show more of my legs.
Pearls play a big role in this pretty collection. 
I styled it with these black skinny jeans which were my favorite and topped it off with this shawl collared Checked Belted Jacket. The jacket is machine washable!

Great looking clothes. They are very figure flattering and versatile. This collection can take you from the office, to the soccer field, lunch with the ladies, then dinner at an upscale restaurant. The current discount makes the purchase very affordable. Timing is everything.

My favourites are the bell sleeve sweater and the cowl neck sweatshirt. I like bell sleeves as they feel and look feminine but usually stick to 3/4 so they don’t drag in my food.
I like the wrap coat. It looks like it would be a versatile – wear with jeans or a dress. Hope you brought that one home. ????
I’m interested in the jeans with the pearl detail. With all that stretch did you have to size down? In NYDJ I always size down because once you wear they become too loose and saggy. And, no one likes a saggy butt. Oh, no!
I did not size down like I do with NYDJ. These fit so beautifully. I was really impressed with Ann Taylor denim!! They’ve upped their game with these new fabrications.

Ann Taylor is great for the career woman but their casual collection is very wearable.
