Dressing Room Diaries: In the Gap

Dressing Room Diaries: In the Gap

I popped into Gap before we left on our trip was delighted to find some great pieces. Several came home with me that I am enjoying wearing. They are having an insanely great sale so quantities may be limited or gone and what’s left is seriously marked down. They’re giving up to 70% off sale merchandise and 40% off regular merchandise online with the code HAPPY at checkout.

I started with this classic striped tee and Bermuda shorts. The shirt comes in 4 colors, I brought home the navy.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life modeling clothes from the Gap

The shorts are a stretch twill and come in several colors. It took me a moment to realize I was wearing the tee backward. It has a “ballet” neckline and is meant to scoop in the back. I did wonder why the neckline was so low:)Jennifer Connolly or A Well Styled Life modeling Gap clothes

Here it is with their mid-rise stretch skinny pants. They are a size too large for me so baggier than they should be.Jennifer Connolly or A Well Styled Life modeling Gap clothes It’s funny because they come all the way to my waist so if they consider this mid-rise, high-rise must come to the underarms. The tee is too long for me so I simply folded it under and it stays put. I do this with tops often and find the double fabric helps camouflage zipper and tummy lumps.

Here I am wearing the striped tee in navy on our ferry ride to the sunshine coast.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life on BC ferry to Gibsons, BC

Next, I tried on these girlfriend Twill Stripe Chino’s which come in 11 colors. They come in petite, regular, and tall. I’m wearing the regular version which is about 1 inch too long for me. I’m wearing them with the Gap vintage tee which comes in 18 colors. It’s easy wearing and super soft.

Here are the chino’s in pink which I loved. I should have bought them. #hindsight I am wearing them with a flowy tank top. The one I am wearing has a watermelon print… I could not find a link for it so it may be sold out.

This sleeveless shirtdress dress is a classic. I don’t like it with the self-belt but it would be nice with a woven leather belt or worn open as a vest. Since I didn’t have a contrasting belt handy I tied this linen striped shirt at the waist for some shaping. I loved the shirt!

These are the bi-stretch twill pants in gingham. A great pant and as with the white ones they are labeled mid-rise but closer to a high-rise on me.

This flutter sleeve top is a fabulous concept but a disaster on me because it makes my shoulders look wider than they are. It’s a smart design that gives full coverage up to the underarm then has an over piece that ruffles. It comes in several colors and would be great on women with narrower shoulders.

Did you know the gap makes pajamas? I had no idea.

They make a large collection of very soft, very cute pajamas and loungewear under the ‘Love By Gapbody” category. This PJ top and shorts are a super soft cotton modal blend that’s perfect for warm nights.

As with any dressing room diaries, there is always one or two disasters. This dress looked fabulous on the hanger but not on me. I can’t imagine why anyone would want this much gathering right at the crotch. I am short and it would hit higher on a taller woman but even then… I couldn’t find a link so maybe it’s sold out:)

Thank you, your trip looks like so much fun. I do really like the striped shirt, but could you please tell me who makes the silver sandals you have on? I have been searching for cute comfort sandals.

The sandals are here and very comfortable. I have a medium-wide foot and these run wide

    Hi Jennifer,
Love these dressing room diaries, such a great idea. You are so petite, I chuckle at your folding the shirts.
I on the other hand have trouble finding tops that are long enough.
    Keep up the fun!

You are lucky to be tall but you can’t lengthen a top so that is a challenge.

Thanks Deanne. I finally broke down and bought a pair of shorts but haven’t worn them yet. I keep waiting until it feels right:)

I discovered those skinny ankle pants earlier this spring. The curvy version fits me perfectly, and the navy is a light enough to be work with black tops. They are my absolute favorite pants (and I got them on sale for $30). I’m hard to fit–4’10” 110 lbs muscular legs. 0P curvy is perfect, and the last many, many wearings before they stretch too much.

All the mid-rise pants I have tried fit like low-riders. I curse the return of this style. It does not work for high-waisted triangle figures. I fear this is heraldIng another 10-year drought of pants for my shape. Manufacturers won’t make a style that uses more fabric. Thank you for the reminder to order pants online while I still can.

I’d love to have choices for all shapes and sizes instead of the bandwagon mentality.

I detest low tide pants on me and seldom see a body they flatter
