Casual Cashmere

I’ve taken some much-needed downtime the last few days. The holidays will explode with busyness very soon so last week was pure fun. My oldest girlfriend (I’m 6 months older which she delights in reminding me) and her fellow have been visiting for the past week and we’ve been playing tourist.

In our downtime, she and I have also been shopping some local small shops and sharing confidences over coffee. It’s been awesome!Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life styling cashmere and silk with denim

Debbie and I have been close friends for over 48 years. We share many things but knitting is a passion for both of us so we hit a local yarn shop that was going out of business and “did some damage”. All fun. The only people in my life who’ve known me longer are my 2 brothers, which I find a sobering thought.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life styling cashmere and silk with denim

Our weather has been glorious the last few days, so a sweater and scarf have been warm enough. I got Lucy out for her first walk, post-surgery. She trotted off very quickly so next time I’ll need her leash which is a wonderful thing.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life styling cashmere and silk with denim

This classic cashmere sweater is on sale and comes in lots of colors. I’m a big fan of V-neck cashmere sweater but usually get them in neutrals, so this Blossom color is a fun change. Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life styling cashmere and silk with denim

I wrapped this fabulous scarf around the neck and simply tucked the ends in. The color is stunning all by itself but the little pieces of sewn-on silk create a texture that makes this a no-brainer for replacing a necklace.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled life styling cashmere from Talbots

I added my favorite silver hoop earrings and a large bangle for our trip to the yarn store and local lunch.

I usually reach for dark wash denim but chose a paler wash for this look to keep it more casual.

Do you have girlfriends from your childhood?

I lost my closest girlfriend from my youth to cancer a few years ago and I miss her dearly. We visited at least once a year and had such fun times together. Joan was a knitter and crocheter. She tried to teach me, but I was all thumbs! I treasure the one afghan that she helped me make!

I love the colour of the sweater on you, Jennifer.

I’m so sorry Elaine! Losing a close friend is so hard. You are lucky to have her afghan. I can’t crochet at all…I am all thumbs with that.

Jennifer, this may be one of my favorite outfits I have seen you in lately. Even though it is simple and comfy, the color is what makes the outfit. Adding some color to your outfit really brings out your beauty. Hoping to see more! Have a great day.

Your look wonderful in that colour. And, I must note that your hair is looking lovely these days. A bit longer, perhaps.
It’s good to see Lucy out enjoying her doggie world.

Thanks Joanna…I am loving wearing more color these days. I’m not poufing it up as much as I used to so it looks longer. I am THRILLED she is enjoying life again.

    Hi Jennifer,
You look lovely as always! I do have several friends from grade school and treasure our times together. I even find I am connecting with college friends now. As I tell my adult children back when we graduated from high school/college everyone went there own ways and the only way to stay connected was by mail. We would have never thought of making a long distance phone call across country to a friend. Social media today makes it so easy for these kids to all stay connected!

Thanks so much. You’re so right Annette. We didn’t even have Facebook which connects lots of old friends together.

That color is gorgeous on you! And I adore the scarf. Lucy is looking so good!
I have 3 close girlfriends, we’ve been friends for 30 years, retired together, and call ourselves the Power Puff Princesses. Yes, we have tiaras! Instead of exchanging Christmas gifts, for 20 years we have treated ourselves to Spa Day. We get to spend the day in robes, drinking champagne, laughing, and being pampered. It’s fabulous, and Spa Day is this week!!! They were here for me this summer and fall after my accident and long recuperation, helping take care of me. My husband adores them because they made sure he was fed and helped take the caregiver burden off him. Friends are priceless treasures.

I have the cashmere crew in the pinkish color you are wearing…I am a definite winter and have not worn my sweater because I thought the color didn’t work…Would adding a “winter” colored scarf make it more flattering to a winter?

You go Lucy…Can’t get a strong “woman” down…smile…

Absolutely! That’s exactly why I’m wearing the blue scarf close to my face. This pink is a bit too warm for me, but I really like it so adding a complimentary color made it work.

Love the pink color, you’re skin glows in the photos, it’s very much one of your best colors. Thebes’s blue in both your jeans and scarf set it off nicely.
Great to see Lucy is up and about – what a lovely early Christmas present!
