Wearing Fall Fashion in Warm Weather

It’s the last week of August and that means fall is right around the corner. Many of us are gearing up for cool weather and starting to think about swapping out our wardrobes. I won’t get cooler daytime temperatures here for several weeks but  I still want to transition to fall clothes. So this time of year I look for ways to wear fall looks while dressing for the mild weather. Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life modeling Tokyo Shirt by Comfy from Artful Home

Luckily, the new Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life modeling Tokyo Shirt by Comfy from Artful Home

It took me about 10 seconds to pick this shirt because I have loved and worn its cousin for years! I can wear it now and all through the fall because it’s a year-round fabric.

This Tokyo Shirt has been a favorite of mine for years. I have it in white, a black floral and now in this classic stripe. To say I love this shirt is an understatement. As we were getting these photo’s my husband kept saying, “that’s a great shirt” and he never notices my clothes.

It has great classic styling with some edgy and creative twists.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life modeling Tokyo Shirt by Comfy from Artful Home

The lightweight cotton is both soft and crisp with a touch of spandex for comfort. It’s slightly A-line silhouette tapers in toward the hem which gives it a subtle bubble effect. I love how it slims through the torso which shows your shape without being snug.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life modeling Tokyo Shirt by Comfy from Artful Home

The Tokyo Shirt is designed and produced in America by Comfy, USA. I have many of their things and love the unique styling and attention to detail.

I love to pop my collar up in the back and this blouse has an ingenious little design feature which enables it to stay up. The drawstring on the back of the collar can be pulled tighter or looser to adjust the amount of ruffle. Expect to see me wearing this often with dark pants and boots as our weather cools off.

For reference, I am wearing a small so I think it is sized generously.

Are you gearing up for fall?

Thanks for reading ladies and have a great day!

A big thank you to Artful Home for providing this shirt. I was compensated but all opinions are my own.

  1. Are those like pockets where it bubbles in the front? SOOO cute! And I love it too when the husband likes the outfit…that is rare when he notices, which usually means I found a winner!

  2. I have that Tokyo shirt in linen, polka dot, gray and at least one other color. It is such a great shirt. One of my favorites!!

  3. Thank you, casual works for me!

  4. Jennifer that shirt is terrific and the mention of cool Cotten appealing as well. It looks great with the white pants.
Wonder if you would help me with something? My understanding of locals and climate is limited. I will be heading to Joshua Tree for a weekend wedding in late October then to San Diego for a “girls” reunion vacation. I am at a loss regarding clothing. I thought the weather would be warm although I’m told the desert cool at night. But if you’re gearing up for fall I’m way off.
I guess white pants are out?

    Any help.

    1. That sounds so fun! For me, white pants are always acceptable. If you’re not comfortable in white try beige, tan, pale gray or kakhi as an alternative. Bring layers for temperate fluctuations. California is quite casual.

  5. The title of today’s post caught my eye and while I do love the outfit, I’m afraid I’d find it too warm when the temps are in the mid 80’s. When I was working and living full-time in Massachusetts, I looked forward to the change in seasons and had outfits for each. Now that I’ve retired, I spend 7 months (Oct-May) in south Florida where “summer” lasts almost the entire time that I’m there. Since I’m no longer just “on vacation”, but nearly a full-time resident, I’d like to add some pieces that are more put together than a pair of capris and a short sleeved top. Do you have suggestions for those of us in this circumstance, or who are simply always hot?

    1. Ah, that east coast humidity does make things much more uncomfortable. How about some cotton shift dresses, flowy skirt with tees or flowy lightweight pants with a closer knit top. Adding accessories will up your look too. I see a lot of ladies wearing capris and knit tops here as well. It seems to be many women’s’ retirement outfit.

  6. Love the shirt! I should be gearing up for fall as the weather is definitely turning here, but I hate to admit that summer is coming to an end. I’m planning to do a thorough cull of my summer wardrobe soon though. There are many items that need to be moved out as they haven’t been worn much or at all this season.

    1. That’s a wonderful time to do it Elaine! Don’t get hasty on the accessories though, they can go unworn for years and be brought back out successfully.

  7. I love the detail on this shirt. These are definitely a statement shirt. Where are the Artful Home stores located? I went to the website but didn’t see any locations.

    1. There are no brick and mortar stores. Online only and they do ship to Canada

  8. Jennifer, that’s an intriguing shirt, thanks for showcasing it!

I can’t make out if it has breast pockets? They are not mentioned in the link description, but a close-up of that, and some of your shots seem to show one pocket above another on the right?

    1. Yes Su. There are two very smooth breast pockets stacked one above the other. They’re very low profile.

      1. Thank you!

      2. Oh my goodness, that’s a fabulous site!

  9. I just got my ArtfulHome catalog in the mail & I’m busy trying to decide what to order. Also JJill has some great fall pieces as well. Fall is my favorite season both for its beautiful colors and clothes I can start wearing. Like you we have warm daytime temps that make dressing often a challenge. I can’t wait for your stylish ideas!

  10. Beautiful shirt! That drawstring collar is genius. Going to check it out now.

  11. This is a great shirt and it’s made here! What else do they make? I am interested!

    1. Artful Home carries fabulous clothes! I love their unique pieces. They also have great accessories for your body and art for your home.

  12. Great shirt! i love stripes and this has an interesting shape too. I’ve never seen that collar feature before. i wish others would do that too.

    1. I love this collar detail too. This shirt is one of my very favorites
