Silk Plaid or Gingham: Dressing it Down

I’m a huge fan of wearing natural fibers. One of my favorites is silk which is often on the dressy side but needn’t be. When my friends at LILYSILK reached out for me to share theirĀ special sale with you, I was thrilled and knew just what I wanted to style.Ā

I’ve been seeing black and white gingham everywhere this spring but nothing rang my bell until I spotted this long silk shirt.

It’s made from the finest mulberry silk and the perfect weight for warm weather. It’s not technically gingham but close enough for my taste and the silk adds a level of sophistication that I like.

It has an exaggerated shirttail hemline with deep side slits and mother of pearl buttons up the front. Theoretically, you could wear it closed and belted as a silk dress but today I dressed it down for a casual day in the burbs.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life modeling black and ivory long plaid silk shirt with jeans and sandals

When I ordered it I assumed I would hem a few inches off but have decided I like this length. I’m a big fan of dusters and love how this one flows.

I tossed it over a plain with tank and jeans for some arm coverage that’s not warm or heavy. The fabric is whisper weight and great for layering.

For reference, Iā€™m 5ā€™4ā€ and wearing a size small. This silk is OEKO certified for using non-toxic dye which I think is pretty important.

And now for the best part. I love this duster in gingham. The fabric looks so soft and allows it to flow with the body. Great item

  7. The black and white duster with denim is a look I really like. Question–I usually avoid silk though I think it’s pretty. Does your new duster wrinkle?

    1. It doesn’t seem to wrinkle any more than cotton would. Maybe because it’s so soft

  8. Wendy Dunbar says:

I love your necklace! Is it French Kande?

  9. It’s a cute look and gingham is totally on trend, however, I recently ordered two silk pillowcases from Lilysilk and within a month, the seams fell apart and the case completely unraveled. It’s not easy to return to this overseas company. Won’t be ordering from them again.

  10. This is darling. Being short, I normally wouldn’t even consider a long duster, but I love this look on you. I wish it came in Petite :(.

    Really loved this look!
