Milestones and Memories

Happy Monday ladies! Today Iā€™m sharing a life update. As you know, Iā€™ve been having a fabulous visit with my daughter this week and our adventures continued through the weekend. Saturday morning my husband, she and I drove up to spend family time with my son and grandson.

My daughter hasnā€™t been here since Christmas so we had lots of catching up to do.

My grandson’s language skills are growing so quicklyĀ itā€™s a hoot to teach him newĀ things words. MyĀ husband caught a video of me trying to teach my grandson how to wiggle his ears šŸ˜‰ He can already raise each eyebrow independently…but not voluntrily yet so we’ll work on it. The joys of grandchildren are endless.

On Sunday my husband and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary. How did that happen so fast?

Over the weekend our kids asked what our recipe was for a 40 year marriage. My husband had an eloquent answer immediately. I didnā€™t but the longer I thought about it, the more I realized my recipe was simple. Not the marriage, the formula.

We are a team, and team members play differently than independents. He always has my back, and I always have his. A 40-year marriage takes love, respect, and laughter. Always laughter because when times are tough you have to be able to laugh.

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

  5. Awww..that photo of you and your grandson, he has such a cute expression! Clearly someone adores his Gramma! Congratulations on #40 it’s quite a milestone, we’ll be at 42 in June and just became first time grandparents in November. My husband was a great father but I never really payed attention to his involvement with our boys …so wonderful to get the chance to see him re enact that with our little grandson now that I can sit back, watch and appreciate!
    Enjoy!

  6. Congratulation and Happy Anniversary! Great advice for sure…a sense of humor is so important. Yes, the years fly by much too quickly….48 for us this summer with 6 grands to spoil!
All the best to you both and I love your life posts. Still laughing over your exploits with the RV. ????

  7. Happy anniversary to you and your husband! We are celebrating our 48th in a couple of days. Not sure when that happened….time flies so quickly. ????

    1. Congratulations and happy 48th Ruth!! Where does the time go??

  8. Congratulations on your 40th anniversary, Jennifer! Your comment about grandchildren really resonated with me; my husband and I NEVER expected to ever be grandparents, but our son (well, my husband’s son, but he’s been “mine” since 1984!) and his partner presented us with an adorable baby girl last September – and next month, we’re visiting them all in the UK. We are so excited to be grandparents in the first place, and to finally being able to meet her. My plan is to spoil her ROTTEN!! And, of course, to instill in her a sense of style early!!

  9. Congratulations on your milestone anniversary!
I am curious how you learn to raise ones eyebrows and ears independently….
    Happy Monday!

  10. Happiest of anniversaries to you two!

Congratulations on your 40th Anniversary! Thank you for sharing the old photo- you two look happy then and now. What a blessing. My husband and I will celebrate our 44th this December. Life is good when you have someone who “has your back” as you put it. And your grandson is adorable.

  12. Happy Anniversary! Forty years does fly by, doesn’t it? We celebrated our 41st in October. One of the biggest blessings in a long marriage is definitely the arrival of grandchildren! We had lots of fun celebrating our youngest grandson’s 4th birthday this weekend.

  13. Forty years is amazing, well done. You made a good decision all those years ago!
Your grandson looks quite the little pickle and lots of fun. Have you tried the sliced banana trick on him? Without peeling it, you carefully cut slices inside the skin by inserting and rotating a large needle or piece of strong wire (clean, of course), then watch the look of amazement when he peels it! He seems the kind of guy who would appreciate that trick!

  14. Congratulations! May you both experience many more years of happiness together!

  15. Happy Anniversary! That’s a milestone for sure! And your grandson is adorable.
