The Taj Mahal Houseboat

The Taj Mahal Houseboat

We had a fabulous day playing tourist in Sausalito, yesterday. The weather was mild and the fog had cleared by the time we arrived to meet my sister-in-law and her husband. We had lunch at our favorite table at the Seafood Peddler, with a view of the water and Tiburon beyond. This view never gets old and makes me wish we lived closer to the bay.

The weather was so mild I didn’t need a jacket which is amazing for November, especially by the water.

The crossover doesn’t gap and is high enough to be modest. I’m wearing a medium in Violet.

I spied the Taj Mahal from our table. I’ve sailed past this houseboat too many times to count and always wanted to get a closer look so after lunch we went down to explore.

This is not your ordinary houseboat. Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life at the Taj Mahal HouseboatIt was built in the 1970’s for $2,000,000, which would be a staggering $9 million today! It has Travertine marble floors, a wine cellar, top-level solarium for meditation, a sauna, and secret elevator. Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life at the Taj Mahal Houseboat

It’s a miniature replica of the Taj Mahal and has been a private home for most of the last four decades.

    Where is your bag from?

My bag is quite old, by Marc Jacobs.

What a beauty – you AND the houseboat. I wonder how much privacy they get (or don’t).

Thanks Barbara. They’re at the very end of the dock so I’m guessing they get a fair amount. There are large sliding shutters on all lower windows which they can probably see out of while closed. The upper floors would have lots of privacy because it’s higher than any boats around it. It’s so cool looking.

    Beautiful day for an outing!
The crossover top looks great on you. I’ve admired it before because I prefer vee neck. I’m concerned the top might not work for me because I’m well endowed and long waisted. Perhaps I’ll give it a try.

We had a blast exploring. I always love to be near the water. This top crosses higher than usual wrap tops so it might work for you. The A-line means no waist definition too so that shouldn’t be a problem.

I would love to see inside this amazing houseboat. I often wonder about living on one but then my sensible side says it’s damp on the water and they must rot quite quickly so you would have constant repairs. But, it does seem like an idyllic life.
You look wonderful in that top. It accents your figure without showing any faults. I do hope that is not saying too much, Jennifer.
    Have a wonderful Sunday!

Thanks, Joanna…it’s exactly what a flattering garment should do:) I think it would be sort of dank to live right on the water. The back side of this was being sanded and repainted which I imagine is required constantly. Have a great day!
