Napa Style and Good Friends

Napa Style and Good Friends

Happy Friday ladies! We’re almost to the weekend. My husband and I started ours early. We went wine tasting in Napa with some dear friends yesterday. It felt like the weekend only better because there were no crowds.

Sorry for the fuzzy pictures, they were taken with my husbands’ phone. Every time we visit Napa, I wonder why we haven’t moved there! The little towns are charming and filled with delicious restaurants. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the people are friendly. The scenery is gorgeous, and the wineries are fabulous. What’s not to love? Wine tasting at Merryvale Winery

We started at my favorite winery, Merryvale Vineyardsin St Helena. We did some wine tasting with cheese pairings that were perfect. I wore my Haven Top by Porto from Artful Home, with Eileen Fisher crepe pants and knee high boots.

touring Davis Family Estates

After a quick lunch, we visited Davis Estates, in Calistoga. The weather had cooled off dramatically by this point and so we were all keeping our coats on.

This cozy alcove was set for a party of 4 and so inviting. The roaring fireplace was perfect on this rainy, cold day.Davis Vineyard in Napa Valley

Their outdoor patio had comfy couches that were on swings. On a clear day, the view across the valley is to Castello di Amoroso, which is a must visit in Calistoga.

We wove our way across the valley to see it. It was built to resemble a medieval castle by winemaker, Dario Sattui.

I hope you have fun things planned for your weekend!

I recently discovered the wine valley, and tasting rooms in Carmel Valley. World-class wines, without the world-class price, are being made from grapes grown in the Santa Lucia Highlands, and surrounding area. The wines are affordable and outstanding. I really was unaware of this wonderful wine region. Also, visiting Carmel Valley is like turning the clock back 15 or 20 years — in a good way. The natural scenery is breathtaking, it’s slower paced with a nice community feel, and very friendly people. There are many good restaurants too!!

That sounds like we need to check it out. What’s your favorite winery down there?

Boekenoogen is a hands-down favorite for both whites and reds. The Mercy tasting room is a couple of doors down, and their wines are nice too. Shale Canyon, in Carmel-by-the-Sea has great tasting whites and reds. All are small production, and the wine makers are often in the tasting rooms. : )
A fun and historical lodge to visit for good food and friendly service is Los Laureles Lodge, there are many other restaurants in the area too that receive good reviews.

I never look that good wine tasting. Haven’t been to the castle but picnicked plenty of times at Sattui!
