The End of the Road in Style

Yesterday was another reminder of just how easily I become addicted to the Internet…being connected electronically. Being on a road trip is no guarantee of unplugging unless you intentionally choose to do so. Or it’s chosen for you Ā

We got lost on our trek up the Oregon coast and ended up at the end of the road. Literally.Ā A landslide 5 years ago prevents the road from continuing north.

Oceanside cabins on the Oregan coast

The road ended at six little cabins on the coast. I use the word cabins loosely.

Tiny cabins in Oceanside Oregan

They look like “backyard sheds” fromĀ Home Depot dressed them up with electricity, a small bathroom, tiny kitchenette and queen sized bed. They were actually built in the early 1920’s.

I had my choice and picked the furthest one.Ā I can lay on the bed, look out the door and see the waves crashing.

The only problem is the WiFi stops at several cabins before our’s. I have to stand in front of someone else’s cabin to get my email, post on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest. I was momentarily frustrated and annoyed. That meant I had a problem. I was too plugged in! I could choose to be stressed orĀ chill in the plastic chair on the little deck and watch the waves. So that’s what I did.

Relaxing in style on the Oregan coast

No one can call me…which worries me a smidge because I have family. It’s not as though they need to get hold of me all the time. But the mother in me feels she needs to be reachable.

This post will go out when I walkĀ down to the coffee shop that has a fast enough connection to send it. InĀ the mean time I’m going to chill, watch the waves and daydream.

Enjoy your day!

Enjoy the Oregon coast! Its beauty is unsurpassed. Hope you get as far as Cannon Beach. It is one of my very favorite places. I can totally relate to your “the mother in me”. It never goes away does it, no matter how old our children are. : )
