Today I’m starting a series of Sunday posts with my friend Pam, of Over 50 Feeling 40. We’re calling it Hit Your Style Sweet Spot.
Your Style Sweet Spot is that place where your appearance and confidence meet. You know you look great! Your appearance is sending the message you want to world to see. You feel comfortable, confident and happy to take on your day.
Each Sunday Pam and I will each show how we would dress for occasions in our lives.
This week we’re both going to an imaginary luncheon with our girlfriends. It’s at a new, cha-cha hotspot in town.
I usually like to think ahead if I have an event like that to go to. However, this morning when I put this post together, most of my clothes were in the laundry and I had scramble to find what I could wear.
Just keeping it honest here ladies. Things like that happen.
So here’s what I came up with.
I started with a $9 white Target tank top. Yes, the ever popular and affordable Tar Jay.
I paired it with my simple stretch Eileen Fisher Knit pencil skirt. This skirt is one of my favorites. Comfortable, travels well and easy care. I love it!
Then I added accessories.
My new French Kande necklace and some very simple stud earrings. I’ve admired the collection that Susan from une femme d’un certain âge, wears and decided I needed to add a few pieces to my accessory collection.
Modern, larger scale jewelry helps make a fresher statement at 59.
I added a favorite Gucci handbag. I bought this over 20 years ago, when Tom Ford was the designer at Gucci. I love using little handbags I can either set on my lap or table, when I’m out at a restaurant.
A simple black Gucci wrap that I’ve also owned for many years. It was a find at their outlet store.
My shoes are the only thing that are new. I found them last week in Nordstrom. They are by Louise et Cie. They come in many other colors but I chose this Bordeaux, as a nod to the color trend this season.
I’m not a big fan of trends. I think they can make fashion victims out of women pretty easily.
These flats are perfect for my tortured feet and best for my bad hip. I love the suede with faux snake texture on the back and the interesting way they wrap up the back of my ankle. The pointed toe femininizes them and makes them feel modern.
So a lunch outfit thrown together quickly, using neutrals and allowing accessories to play center stage.
Now pop over to Pams and see how she is dressing for lunch.
Our goal is to help all women hit their Style Sweet Spot and enjoy the confidence that comes with it.
Style Your Day Beautifully,
