Wine Tasting in the Okanagan Valley

The Okanagan Valley is a wine lovers paradise. Similar to Napa and Sonoma, it’s dotted with pretty wineries and wonderful spots to eat. We’ve spent the last few days sampling wines and playing tourist.Ā

Our first stop was See Ya Later Ranch. It’s perched half way up a mountain with stunning views of a gorgeous valley and Skaha lake.

As we headed north we stopped at several new housing developments toĀ check things out. The prices here are through the roof! Vancouverites are escapingĀ the city with huge profits from their homes andĀ driving these prices up. This is a popular spot to retire and we can see why.

The next day I woreĀ layers because these temperatures fluctuate depending on both the day and altitude. This time Lucy stayed in the trailer with the AC set to come on if it got too hot.

We had a wonderful time tasting wines at the Black Hills Winery. Lunch was served on the patio with views of their sparkling swimming pool and vineyards.

We tasted 6 different wines and ultimately bought some of their Chardonnay when we learned they were no longer selling to the wine shops.wine tasting at Black Hills Winery

After lunch, we stopped back at the trailer to catch up on email and walk Lucy along the beach. Why is it that dogs sniff something that looks innocuous then hurlĀ themselves to the ground and rollĀ all over it?walking the beach on Lake Osoyoos

The weather changed abruptly as we drove into the hills for a bird’sĀ eye view of Lake Osoyoos. I’m afraid of heights but this picture was too good not to capture.

We’re driving back to the coast tomorrow and hopping a ferry over to Vancouver Island. We’ve loved our time in the Okanagan Valley and will be back. Of course, we’re on vacation, but the pace of life is slow here and the scenery is gorgeous.

Note- I’m sharing my daily outfit choices because many have asked to see what I wear while traveling in our RV. My pictures are grainy because they’re being snapped with an iPhone.

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

  1. Where did you be the last top you are wearing?

    1. The striped top is several year years old from Chico’s. It’s the same top I wore all day! Looks very different with a jacket over it.

  2. Being that we’re camping in Penticton, I thought of you in this inclement weather. It’s usually much hotter than this. There are many beautiful wineries in this whole valley. I recognize much of what you posted.

I’m lamenting the closing of RV parks. As you said, the demand for homes is through the roof, not only here but in many areas. Everyone is turning to provincial or state parks and they can’t keep up with the demand.

    Keep enjoying your trip.

    1. Pentictin is gorgeous Julie! We really enjoyed seeing it. The weather has seemed strangely cool the last few days. My brother tells me it’s pouring on Vancouver Island which is where we head tomorrow so this cloudy cool weather has been fine. It’s still beautiful here. Happy camping.

  3. You look lovely. Glad you are enjoying your adventures!

  4. You look great! I get lazy when we camp. You motivate me to do better!!

    1. Tomorrow’s post delves into just that topic, Sue. You motivate me to keep sharing:)

  5. I don’t usually comment, but I love your blog. I agree, your hair looks wonderful. Mine gets thinner by the day. What size fire tops do you buy? I think we are about the same size, 5’4″ and around 135?

    1. Thank you Pam! I feel blessed the Rogaine is working for me. I usually wear a small or medium top depending on the brand. Which tops are you referring to?

    you look fabulous

    1. Many thanks, Judy. It’s easier to do using an iPhone camera šŸ™‚

I love that top you are wearing. Looks beautiful up there. I really enjoy your posts, love looking at your outfit as I am also on an RV trip. Right now we are in Bryce Canyon in Utah.
    Thank you for your post…..

    1. Thanks Diane. We got snowed out of seeing Bryce last time we were down that way but it’s on our list!! Safe travels!

  8. Beautiful pictures and scenery. Wine tasting is so much fun! Thanks for sharing and continue to enjoy your vacation.

    1. It really is a beautiful spot. I see why so many people are retiring here.

  9. dogs and children love to embarrass! You look great through it all.

  10. Your hair looks great. Whatever changes you’ve made are working.

    1. Thank you Yvonne! I’m still using the 5% Rogaine and Kevin Murphy hair care products.

  11. Loving your hair! And that navy and white outfit is so pretty and summer-y! My husband just purchased a Tilley raffia sun hat for me and it’s packable. Always avoided Tilley as they look so tourist-y but this one is adorable with a black grosgrain ribbon. I am petite so often end up looking like a mushroom in too broad a brim, this is perfect. Know you are always on the look out for cute sun hats so thought I would pass it on. Tilley’s are $$ ( so buy one in Canada!) but they have a lifetime guarantee and will be replaced at 50% if you lose it or wreck it somehow.
Glad you are enjoying B.C. Hope you can stay for Canada’s 150th birthday on July 1! We have a ring side seat here in Ottawa.

    1. Thanks for the tip, Allison! My husband has a few Tilleys and I agree, his do look touristy. I’ll check out their selection. Yours sound very nice! We may still be here, our dates are a bit up in the air right now.
