Look of the Week: Weekend Fun

We had my favorite fella’s here for the weekend. My son and grandson came for a much-anticipated visit. The weather cooperated, gave us glorious sunshine and mild temperatures so we got to spend time outside.

weekend wear in COMFY USA

First order of the day was a walk for Lucy. She adores getting out, but once we leave the driveway all she wants to do is sniff! She needs encouragement to actually move, sort of like me:)

I wore sneakers, hat, jeans and my new Lexi Tunic by Comfy USA from Artful Home. Comfy USA is designed and manufactured in America. I love to support companies who produce their product here in the USA! I normally wear a small in Comfy, but this one runs large so I’m wearing an XS.

casual wear for weekends

This Lexi Tunic has an asymmetrical hem on one side and a raised waist seam with crisp pleating on the other. I’ll wear it with black leggings for a dressier occasion but for a day with my grandson, jeans were the best option.

Next, we hit the playground for some real exercise. He can actually bounce me on this teeter totter now. Do they still call these teeter totters or am I dating myself again?

We wore ourselves out (I did) racing from the swings to ladders to slide.Comfy is the name of the game at the playground

My husband and I both needed a nap when we got home, but my grandson would have none of it. How do these little guys keep going? He’s like the Energizer Bunny!

I love this pleated skirt look on the front of this tunic.

By the end of the day, I was too exhausted to cook dinner. I just switched out my accessories for dinner at our local Thai restaurant.

A colorful scarf and dressier shoes were all I needed to feel dressed appropriately for a suburban restaurant. To be honest, I could have worn my sneakers but I like to make an extra effort when we go out.

I discovered the Comfy brand of clothes while visiting Galena, IL, in a local boutique there. I LOVE them. Their fabrics are so soft and comfortable. Thanks for telling me about the “made in the USA” portion of their business as I didn’t know that. I love seeing pictures of your grandson and you together. Blessings to you….

Looks like such a fun day! And so stylish! Sitting here in Maine hoping this blizzard blows away soon, and dreaming of warm sunny weather!

It is a nice change from all the rain we’ve been getting. Stay warm, Jane!

I am sorry. I don’t like the top. It is too long on you, you are short you should wear a shorter top.

I wear long and shoe tops depending on my day. I agree, with flat sneakers this tunic is super long on me. Thanks for your feedback! I love the alternating side detail and pleating on this tunic.

You always looked so put together and beautiful, but that top is just not right for you, but I know it doesn’t matter what you wear when you spend time with a grandchild. They only see what’s inside!

Thanks for weighing in, Jane. I was perfectly comfortable and had a blast with him. He is such a delight.

I don’t like the outfit either. It doesn’t look like it goes together.

The tunic is cute….but it reminds me of the “hatchin jackets” that we all wore when we were pregnant…back in the 60″s…..you have a cute figure…why hide it under this jacket????? If you have it…flount it!

I did wear tented smocks when I was pregnant but don’t this this fits that bill. I don’t always wear fitted or loose garments. I like to mix things up. Thanks for sharing, Ruth.

Your grandson is precious. They are busy little ones. I find they exhaust me but in a good way. If only we could bottle some of that energy.

You look adorable and I love the top. Perfect for a fun day in the park or out at the market or anywhere for that matter.
I’m short and I wear what _I_ love and I love tunic length tops on my short self. If I feel good in it, I wear it.

Thanks, Joanie! Being short does have its challenges. I love tunic tops too!!!

I love the asymmetry of that tunic. Gorgeous photos too. Lots of colour in the pics in the park. Happy grandson showing his seesaw skills.

Love your casual look in this post and I especially like the hats you wear. As I’m aging I’m concerned about style as well as sun protection. Would you please consider doing a post on how to select hats for everyday wear? Style, fit and being pack-able are important to me. Thanks.

You look so happy and comfortable too. I’m short, 5′ 2″ but love to wear tunics especially when we have our two youngest granddaughters over, aged 3 and 20 months. We have them 2 full days a week! Love them to bits but like you exhausted at days end. Only survive by having a casserole ready cooked in the fridge and a nice glass of wine after mom picks them up!
Love your blog btw and you’ve given me many excellent ideas.

As always, Jennifer, you look great! Where in Canada did you purchase your first comfy brand?

A small shop in Vancouver while I was visiting my daughter.

Jennifer, I love your tunic and your adventurous spirit! You look great! Thanks for pushing the bar and showing us new styles. Life would be so boring if we didn’t push ourselves to step out of the box. This piece looks like it is so well-made too! I love your style and your commitment to family and fun! Thanks!

This is such a great post. I just spent a week’s vacation with my sons and their wives, and there’s just nothing better. Amazing how the scarf dressed up your whole outfit!

That must have been fabulous, Maggie. Aren’t they the very best??

Being a grandparent is such a reward isn’t it? A little activity in the sunshine is just the thing to perk everyone up…but, I’m with you…the kids just keep going when I’m ready to drop. Glad you enjoyed our brief respite from the rain.

I don’t know about your neck of the woods, but we’re bracing for another bout of heavy rain. I’m ready for spring, how about you?

I love your scarf. Where did you purchase it please?

    • Jennifer
      February 17, 2017 / 9:36 am

I bought it out of a clearance sale bin at Saks over 25 years ago. I’ve never seen another one like it! A great scarf is a timeless investment.
