Stretching Your Travel Wardrobe With Accessories

I pack light when I travel so rely on accessories to change up my look. For this week’s trip to Iceland, I packed even less than usual and brought very few accessories. My outfits are very similar most days of this trip…a top, pant, jacket, hat, and scarf…or scarves.

Some days I’ll toss a down vest under my jacket, but from the outside, I look the same. Most importantly I’m keeping warm and dry.

I’m on the move, so people don’t know I’m wearing the same jacket and hat every day.

I brought 5 scarves, 2 hats (one I’ve never worn), one jacket, one down vest, and 1 pair of earrings.

I brought my favorite earrings for a special reason. My Mom bought these on our trip to Ireland together, 42 years ago. She loved to travel but her chance to see much of the world was cut too short by a disease that took her life far too early. Wearing these every day allowed me to bring her to Iceland, a place she would have loved but never got a chance to see.

  2. I love the story behind the earrings! They are beautiful!

I love buying accessories on vacation because they become such wonderful reminders of trips and people…

I loved seeing all the photos! Such a beautiful country to visit!

  3. I always bring a few pieces of jewelry with me when traveling. They take up so little space that it’s silly not to do so. It looks like you’re having a fabulous time on your trip. Thanks for sharing some details.

  4. You have become my guru…tell me where you got those sunglasses. I love them. Accessories are my favorite because my wardrobe right now is fairly plain. I am in the process of losing weight and need some “pop” because I am not happy with how I look. I have literally tons of scarves…I will take off the excess weight and go shopping in my closet.

  5. Looking beautiful as always! I always smile when I see you looking immaculate and stylish no matter where you are because I wonder what happened to my sense of style. Since I left my career behind, I have have become more bag-lady than style icon! I almost revel in it! But I do love looking at the posts of women who dress well – I just sigh and remember when.

  6. I’ve only recently come to your blog and I’m very much enjoying it! Like to travel myself and never before even thought of Iceland. You and your family having such fun and your pictures are terrific. Thank you for sharing I came for the fashion and got the travel bonus. And btw I’m sure you have heard this all your life, you have a wonderful smile!
