Fall Camping in Style and Comfort

We’re leaving for a fall camping trip in our RV next week…not a moment too soon. I can’t wait to see some colorful foliageĀ and breathe fresh air. It’s not as though I live in a cement jungle, but suburbia is not my idea of the great outdoors. I’m looking forward to unplugging and listening to nothing šŸ™‚

Many of you gave me suggestions on footwear to wear for RV travel when we bought our trailer last summer…and I took your advice!Sketchers from Chadwicks are the perfect shoes to wear for a fall camping trip
The shoes need to slip on and off, so I don’t track dirt into the trailer. They need to be super comfy to walk on uneven ground in campsites. They need to not look like gnome shoes. Check, check and check!

Hands down, most of you recommended Skechers, and you were right.

I found mine at Chadwicks of Boston, which is known for affordable, great quality. These slip-on sneakers have a memory foam insole and a stretchyĀ fabric top. They feel like I’m walking on pillows!

I’m also bringing this all season Tally Ho Anorak jacket from Chadwicks of Boston. It’s available in several colors, but I got mine in my favorite color for fall, Navy. Yes, black is timeless, but so is Navy and it is way more flattering to my complexion.

This jacket is perfect for many climates and can handle anything the weather throws at me.

It comes with a cozy, removable fleece lining which I’ll need if it gets chilly. It finally started raining here yesterday and I wore it to run errands in town. It was perfect with the lining in!

The detachable hood will be perfect if it rains and the whole thing is waterproof. I love that it has a waist drawstring toĀ slim my silhouette and can be loosened depending on what I am wearing underneath. Its pockets will keep my hands toasty warm.

I am seriously impressed with the quality of this coat!

We’re heading for places with no internet, so I hope I don’t get the heebee-jeebees.Ā If I do, it’s a sign I really needed to get away. I’ll send postcards from the road…if I can.

Check out ChadwicksĀ of Boston for their terrific fall and winter things.

Have a great week!

  1. Jen, I love to camp too! They finally make the 2 minute tent with poles attached. I just find the woods so peaceful. Love the jacket, perfect for camping and the shoes also look great for when you just want to slip them off before entering the tent or walking around the campfire.
    Enjoy!

  2. I can absolutely second your comments about the jacket. I bought the same one in August for my two month stay in Ireland. I have wore it with and without the liner and it has been great. I had it on during a hike in a windy rain downpour and I stayed warm and dry. I have gotten many compliments on it.

    1. It’s such a great coat!!

  3. Blue is a great color on you! Very nice jacket, and it sounds perfect for a fall camping trip. And the shoes sound perfect, too! Enjoy the fall foliage! You’ll certainly look great doing it!

    1. I do love all shades of blue! Thanks, Andrea. I am really looking forward to it.

NAVY IS A GOOD FIT FOR YOU!
    HAVE FUN…………….XX

  5. Love your outfit – you look like a real outdoor girl. My favorite slip-ons are by Keen. They are leather, and mine have lasted for years and still look the same. They are really well made, like a hiking shoe without the laces. Not as cushy as yours, I’m sure, but they have excellent support and are very tough. No problem with keeping them on, and socks look fine with them.

  6. I own a similar coat which is great for rainy days.
Hope you enjoy your trip in the RV.
Are you taking any knitting projects with you this time?

  7. Love the navy! I have similar coloring to you and have been trying to go back to navy as a base instead of black. It is so much more flattering. Have a great trip!

  8. Skechers are our go-to slip on shoes for comfort. My daughter bought me a pair of Go Walks a few years ago and they are still going (no pun intended). Have to check out the jeans (look so comfy) and love the anorak. Enjoy your trip.

  9. That’s a very versatile jacket for camping or anytime. It never hurts to carry a light pair of gloves for fall and spring camping. Except in summer, I keep a small pair in my misc section of my dual sided Eagle Creek travel kit.

Do you pack your clothes directly to your RV or still use your travel kit bags to store directly in your drawers?

I’d like to have those shoes for anytime. Pretty colour.

  10. I would love to see some fall foliage…how much fun! This is a perfect jacket for your trip!

    1. I’m really looking forward to seeing some. We don’t get much here in Northern CA and I miss it.
