Look of the Week: Cashmere in Persian Blue

The hunt is on for where we want to live in retirement. We’ve done a lot of research online, but in the end, we need to visit places and see how they feel. We’re heading down to San Louis Obispo today to check out another active retirement community.

The weather will be gorgeous but being closer to the ocean, I Ā know it can be breezy. I packed my newest cashmere wrap from CatherineĀ Robinson Cashmere. You’ve seen me share my other wraps from this line here,Ā here and here.

Catherine Robinson Cashmere

I adore cashmere everything. The finest comes from Mongolia and the prettiest come from Catherine Robinson Cashmere.

Catherine’s newest collection has some gorgeous colors, one if which is this Persian Blue. It’s a clear, strong blue that flatters skin tone and coordinates beautifully with everything in my wardrobe.

This gorgeous wrap is large enough to cuddle into and compact enough to pack into a small bag. It measures just over 78 X 27″ and is luxuriously soft. When I was sick at my daughter’s house a few weeks ago, I spent the entire week on her couch, snuggled into this wrap and was very grateful to have it with me.

Catherine’s Cashmere arrives at your door, packaged like the most exquisite gift. Each piece comes in a custom box to store your cashmere, wrapped in tissue and includes a cameo, infused with Catherine’s signature scent, Grace.

Cashmere wraps are an invaluable part of my everyday and travel wardrobe. WinterĀ or summer, they keep me warm on cold airplanes, cozy on the beach and covered in overly air-conditionedĀ restaurants and theaters.

I always bring cashmere when I travel and a wrap is the most versatile. Catherine makes fabulous ponchos, wraps, robes, cardigans, leg warmers, scarves, hats, gloves and special items for the home. Have a peek and discover the finest cashmere I have ever worn.

Are you a fan of cashmere? Do you like wearing wraps?

Thanks for reading and have a great day.

Thank you to Catherine Robinson Cashmere for partnering in this post.

    1. Thanks, Debbie. It’s even more stunning in person!

  4. I have recently started following your blog and really enjoy it. Although I live near London in the U.K. I find your advice and choice of outfits to be inspiring. I visit the USA as a favourite holiday destination and discovered Anne Tyler, Eileen Fisher and Talbots- all shops that cater for the older woman. I love clothes and writing about them using my trips to Europe as an inspiration!! Keep up the good work and I hope you feel better soon. The blue is perfect for your colouring.

    1. Thank you so much, Elaine. Welcome!

  5. Thank you Jennifer – you look amazing in the persian blue, it is definitely your colour!

    With thanks, Catherine

    1. Thank you Catherine!

  6. Love the blue cashmere wrap! Could need it in SLO. I grew up in SLO! Check it out on Thursday night and Avila Beach Friday night. Grover Beach is great too! Have fun!

    1. Thanks, Terri! It sounds like a fun place. Can’t wait!

  7. Jennifer,

That blue looks SO Good on you!
I always take a wrap with me when I go out to dinner because restaurants tend to be on the chilly side.

    1. Thanks Robin! They’re perfect for chilly insides when it’s warm outside.

You’re heading to Trilogy! My husband built it. The restaurant there is fantastic. Feel free to ask me any questions about the area. I ed there for 15 years. Now up near Seattle. Try to go to the Historic Viaabe of Arroyo Grande. Cute shops and you can eat outside at Rooster Creek and literally watch chickens cross the Main Street. Enjoy your trip.

    1. Thanks for the tips Katie! We’re excited to check it out. What took you to the Seattle area from sunny CA? Weather is definitely figuring into our decision. It sounds adorable down there!!

      1. Katie Cunningham says:

Jennifer, well besides my typos…SLO is truly paradise. Just isolated. Be prepared the nearest mall is in Santa Barbara. We loved living there…my husband was offered a tremendous career opportunity and we literally packed two suitcases each and locked the door on our beloved home and we’re living near Seattle in 10 days. Life is an adventure! I miss CA and my family. Enjoy your trip.

      2. That is exciting Katie! And fast to relocate. It’s tough to start over new, away from family. Seattle area is gorgeous so I’m sure you’re having fun exploring it! Thanks for your tips.

Jennifer, I should have mentioned that I recently discovered your blog. I’m enjoying it immensely.

  9. Hi Jennifer, I love cashmere and seem to enjoy the toppers the most. It is nice they don’t move around while I work during the day and also I don’t have to constantly see that it is in place. I use to have several cashmere pullovers but have eliminated those as I get too hot when it is right up against my body. I hope to keep adding to my cashmere collection as the colors are beautiful and it is a classic item!

    1. You’re so right about pullovers, Annette. It’s not as easy to take those off as my temperature goes up and down šŸ™‚

  10. That color is wonderful! I love wraps when traveling on cool evenings, and mornings. I don’t have one in a great color like that. Mine are neutrals, or animal print. šŸ™‚

He-Man and I have been looking for 6 months at properties in Nevada. We love San Luis Obispo and spend a couple of week-ends a year down there, but it’s California and it’s so, so expensive to live here anymore. šŸ™ We fear on a fixed income the high taxes, and costs of everything it will chew up our retirement funds before were done living. šŸ™‚

My Mom retired in FL. and keeps urging us to visit and look there. It’s harder to view property and areas when it’s so far away, but we’re planning to spend time there to before deciding on a place to settle.

Best of luck with your retirement house hunting!

    1. I agree about California Deborah. The cost of living here is insane. Our kids are on the west coast otherwise we would consider Florida. We know several folks who have retired there and live it. Nevada has no state income tax so we have out eye out there too!

      1. Our children are both in Calif. too which is why NV is higher on the retirement living list. I hear you there! I fear we need them more than need us. šŸ™‚ We like seeing them a lot. šŸ™‚
No state income tax is something we like the sound of. The trade off there though is higher property taxes. šŸ™

      2. I hear you about the children. My son keeps reminding me of the exact same thing! I didn’t know they had higher property taxes. Where in Nevada do you like?

      3. We like the West end of Carson City, and the Buzzy Ranch area but, it’s a bit further out and away from services which I’m thinking we’re going to want to have nearby the older we get. We also like a couple of neighborhoods in Minden.

      4. Thanks, we’ll have a look. I agree, isolated is the last thing I want us to be as we get older.

  11. I’m following every word about active retirement communities! Thank you for starting this topic for discussion.

    1. You’re most welcome! I think a lot of us are at this stage. It’ll be fun to see what I discover.

  12. Gorgeous color on you! A versatile piece like the wrap can be pennies per wear…smart purchase. Good luck on the retirement home shopping.

    1. They are very smart purchases considering their timeless, luxurious appeal. I could wear one most days, Donna:)

  13. Roxanne B says:

Holy moly, Jennifer, you look GORGEOUS in that shade of blue! Wowza!!!
Did you read Jimmy Buffet is building an active seniors living community in Daytona Beach, FL? Margaritas every day.

    1. I did not read that, Roxanne! How fabulous would that be? There are so many of us at or near this stage it feels like there are more options than ever available and fun ones!

    1. Thanks, Pam, I adore the quality of her cashmere!!
