Fall fever is in full swing at our local shops. I had to be in the mall yesterday to return some shoes that didn’t make the cut so I stopped into Ann Taylor to see their new fall collection. Tweed, houndstooth, velveteen, wool and faux fur filled the store along with touches of leopard and gorgeous accessories.
I loved these mini houndstooth ankle pants in black and white! They’re a classic that will be stylish for many years. Slim fitting through the hip and seat, this Devin style is perfect for a straight figure. These are petites but are one size too large for me.
I paired them with this v-neck ruffled sleeve sweater in extra fine merino wool. Wool is usually itchy on me but this felt like silk and would be very versatile. These gray houndstooth leggings have double zippers in front. I don’t know about you, but I need to cover the top of my leggings so the zipper detail, while cute, would never show on me. I topped it with this v-neck maroon sweater that is longer in the back.
Then I topped all this with this wool and cashmere coatigan with a shawl collar in maroon and pale gray. Again, I needed the petite version.

Next, I tried on this velvet jean. Great fitting but with stretch built in. I thought it would be nice with this botanical velvet tee, but I didn’t like the color contrast so I switched to black velvet jeans and much preferred the look.
The lighting for these pictures is off, this top is a very pretty teal green that shimmers.
